Hi All,

Welcome to my blog.  It's my first attempt at a blog, so hopefully I get better at it over time.  For the moment, please bear with me.

Why am I blogging?

The intent is really to catalog our 2021 epic adventure, which is a bicycle ride across the United States with my sons Jake, Alex and Bonnie (Alex's girl friend).  Additionally, Bonnie's father, Steve, will be joining for a few days.  We have selected the Northern Tier Route (published by Adventure Cycling), which crosses the U.S. from Anacortes, Washington to Bar Harbor Main.  The route is broken into 11 sections, navigating 14 states approximately 4300 miles and 174,000 feet of elevation climbs.  We will start our journey from Bar Harbor and pedal our way west to Anacortes.  We think it will take about 75-80  days(including rest) and our plan is to average somewhere around 60 miles per day.

That said, the main goal is to enjoy each and every day and to welcome whatever challenges come our way.  We are excited to see the country at 10mph rather than the fly over or flyby @70mph.  There will be lots of great food and we'll be critiquing craft brews along the way.  I'm super grateful to have this opportunity - knowing that I'll be amongst the highest level of company and conversation - probably the best!

We simply enjoyed our last day.  It was 67 miles, beautiful weather and nearly half the ride was on the Centennial trail, a paved rail-to-t...
